Remembering Who You Are

Hello Be You! Community Room!

If you’re here today, you’re already taking one of the bravest steps a person can take...you’re choosing to show up for yourself.

In a world that moves at lightning speed, filled with endless notifications, expectations, and noise, it’s easy to lose sight of the most important voice in your life...your own.

That’s why today, in this sacred space we’ve built together, I want to talk about something that has transformed my life and the lives of so many in our community: Remembering Who You Are.

You are not the stress that keeps you up at night.

You are not the mistakes you’ve made or the doubts that whisper in your ear.

You are not the version of yourself that someone else told you to be.

You are a powerful, radiant, one-of-a-kind force of nature...created with purpose, wrapped in potential, and capable of rewriting every chapter that no longer fits.

This week, we’re going to gently peel back the layers that life has piled on top of your true self and rediscover the incredible person you’ve always been.

Take a deep breath with me right now. Inhale… hold… exhale. Feel that?

That’s your soul saying, “I’m still here. I never left.”

Welcome home.

The Quiet Forgetting...

Life has a way of making us forget.

It starts small. Maybe you were the kid who dreamed big...drawing pictures of faraway places, singing at the top of your lungs, believing the world was yours to explore. Then school, jobs, responsibilities, heartbreak, comparison, and the constant pressure to “keep up” slowly dimmed that spark.

You became the reliable one. The strong one. The one who smiled through the pain so everyone else could feel okay. You traded your dreams for a checklist. You silenced your intuition to avoid rocking the boat. You started measuring your worth by likes, promotions, and how well you could hold it all together.

Sound familiar?

I see you nodding. I’ve been there too.

Years ago, before I created the Be You! Community Room, I hit what I now call my “forgetting point.” I was running on autopilot...the schedule that looked perfect from the outside. But inside? I felt like a stranger in my own life.

I couldn’t remember what made my heart light up. I couldn’t remember the version of me who laughed without apology, who trusted her gut, who believed she was worthy simply because she existed.

One quiet morning, sitting with my coffee and staring out the window, a single question changed everything: “Jody, who were you before the world told you who to be?”

That question cracked me open. And it led me here...to this community, to you.

If you’re reading this and feeling that same ache of disconnection, please know you are not broken. You are not behind.

You are simply in the beautiful, necessary season of remembering. And the Be You! Community Room is the safest place on the internet to do exactly that.

The Beautiful Truth...You Are Already Enough

You don’t have to become someone new. You only have to remember who you already are.

You are the same soul who once believed in magic.

You are the same heart that once loved fiercely and without conditions.

You are the same mind that once dreamed impossible dreams and then chased them with everything you had.

Life didn’t erase that person... it just covered her up in survival mode.

But she’s still in there, waiting for you to come home.

Dr. Maya Angelou once said, “You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. In fact, it may be necessary to encounter the defeats, so you can know who you are, what you can rise from, how you can still come out of it.”

That’s the power of remembering. Every challenge you’ve faced wasn’t sent to break you...it was sent to reveal you.

Think about it. The times you felt most lost were often the times you grew the most. The heartbreak that shattered you also showed you how deeply you can love. The failure that stung taught you resilience you never knew you had. The quiet nights when you questioned everything forced you to listen to the voice that was always guiding you.

You are not starting over.

You are returning home.

Practical Ways to Remember Who You Are...

Remembering isn’t a one-time event; it’s a daily practice. Here are powerful, soul-nourishing ways to come back to yourself:

The Mirror Exercise

Every morning, look yourself in the eyes and say:

“I see you. I love you. I remember you. Today, I choose to honour who I really am.”

It feels awkward at first. Do it anyway. The discomfort is just the old version of you making room for the real you.

The Joy List

Make a list of 20 things that made you genuinely happy as a child. Then start adding at least one of them back into your week. Dance in the kitchen. Colour with crayons. Climb a tree. Sing in the car like no one’s watching. Your soul remembers what lights it up.

The “Before the World” Journal

Set aside 10 minutes and answer these prompts:

Who was I before I was told I had to be perfect?

What did I love before I learned to be afraid?

What dreams did I have before I learned to play small?

Read your answers often. They are love letters from your true self.

Nature Reset

Spend time outside without an agenda. Walk barefoot if you can. Let the earth remind you that you belong here. You are part of something vast and beautiful.

The Power of “No” and “Yes”

Saying no to what drains you is saying yes to who you are. Protect your energy like the precious gift it is. And say a bold YES to the things that make you feel most alive.

Community Connection

You’re already doing this by being here!

Share your wins, your struggles, your “I remembered!” moments in our room.

We rise together.

Together, we are creating a world where remembering who you are is the new normal. Where authenticity is celebrated. Where self-love isn’t selfish, it’s revolutionary.

My dear friend, the Be You! Community Room isn’t about becoming someone different. It’s about returning to the truth of who you’ve always been...magnificent, worthy, powerful, and deeply loved.

You were never meant to shrink.

You were never meant to hide.

You were never meant to live someone else’s version of your life.

You were meant to shine exactly as you are.

So today, let’s make a promise to each other in this beautiful community room...

We will remember.

We will rise.

We will support one another every step of the way.

And we will never again forget how incredible we truly are.

With all my love and endless belief in you.

XO Jody
