Motivational Monday: Stop Comparing Yourself to Others

Hello, Be You! Community!
It’s Motivational Monday, and this week we’re talking about one of the most common thieves of joy...comparison.
You know how it goes. You’re having a perfectly good day until you scroll past someone’s highlight reel and suddenly your life feels small, behind, or not enough.
Your business, your body, your relationships, your healing journey, all of it suddenly feels “less than.”
Here’s what I want you to hear today...
Comparison is a betrayal of your own timeline.
Your path is yours for a reason. The detours, the delays, the restarts, they are not mistakes.
They are data.
They are wisdom in disguise.
The moment you compare your Chapter 3 to someone else’s Chapter 20, you rob yourself of the amazingness of your own story.
I remember sitting on my bedroom floor years ago, surrounded by bills and uncertainty, scrolling through someone who had “made it.”
The spiral was instant. Why them and not me? What’s wrong with me?
That spiral cost me weeks of momentum.
The turning point came when I asked myself one powerful question...
“What if I’m exactly where I need to be to become who I’m meant to be?”
That question changed everything.
Practical ways to break free from comparison:
Catch it quickly. The moment you feel that sting in your chest, name it: “I’m comparing.” Awareness is the first crack in its power.
Return to your own lane. Ask: What’s one thing I can do today that aligns with MY values and MY vision?
Practice gratitude for your uniqueness. No one else has your exact combination of experiences, heart, humour, and gifts.
Celebrate others without diminishing yourself. Their win is not your loss. There is more than enough light for all of us.
“Comparison is the thief of joy.” – Theodore Roosevelt
But I’d like to add...
Your authenticity is the return of your joy.
This week, every time you catch yourself comparing, I want you to do one thing...
Place your hand on your heart and say, “I am exactly where I need to be. My journey is unfolding perfectly for me.”
You were never meant to be a copy. You were meant to be you.
Share in the comments...
What’s one area where comparison has been stealing your joy lately?
And what’s one small action you can take this week to return to your own lane?
You are not behind. You are becoming.
With so much love and support,
XO Jody
